Series: (All)
Transfiguration Sunday - February 23, 2020
Readings: 1 Peter 1:13-23 & Matthew 17:1-9
"Holy Living in All You Do" --  1 Peter 1:14-15
The Message by Rev. Riz Prakasim
Reverend Riz Prakasim was born in South Africa and came to the United States as a refugee from apartheid when he was 5 years old. He grew up in Princeton, NJ, and although he was good in the house, he was a prodigal son outside and was known to cause a ruckus and a stink. Exiled from NJ when he was 16, he moved into the country in rural MN in 1993, where his prodigal ways were amplified. During his studies at the University of Minnesota, he became associated with a gang and soon found himself in jail. The love and mercy of God poured into his life through miraculous circumstances, and eventually Riz went to Luther Seminary and became a second-generation Presbyterian pastor in the PCUSA when he was ordained in 2012. After serving at his first call at Knox Presbyterian Church, God led Knox to merge with North Como Presbyterian Church to form New Life Church of which Riz is the pastor today. He recently participated in the Ecumenical Center for Clergy Spiritual Renewal's cohort along with Pastor Chris.

    All Saints Sunday
    Series: (All)
All Saints celebrates the baptized people of God, living and dead, who are the body of Christ.  As November heralds the dying of the landscape in many northern regions, the readings and liturgy call us to remember all who have died in Christ and whose baptism is complete.
    Readings:  Isaiah 25:6-9; Revelations 21:1-6a; John 11:32-44
