Free Bread Ministry

Tuesdays, 7:30 AM

Every Tuesday, from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM, we sponsor a free bread distribution for the community. The church and other community members help by picking up the bread, setting the bread out on tables, providing bags and gloves and friendly smiling faces!

We have also have a basket of masks for people if they do not have one!

The Huruma Centre, a ministry of the Iringa Diocese, is a children’s home in Iringa, Tanzania, which provides a safe home, nurture, nutrition, and education for children who, for a variety of reasons, have no family or others to care for them.  You are welcome to help with this ministry by giving on  our Donate page! (Indicate Huruma under Offering.)

Who We Serve

We provide food and support to neighbors who live within or attend the White Bear Area School District and self-identify a need for food.  Our Bonus Saturday program is open to anyone in need of food regardless of geographic boundaries.

How you can help

We rely on generous donors like you to advance our mission of providing food and support to our neighbors in need. $1 donated will purchase $8 in healthy groceries for families struggling to make ends meet. You can support your local food shelf through volunteer opportunities, sponsoring a food drive, and/or making an online donation today!

We support Vadnais Heights Elementary School by collecting
school supplies.

How Lutheran World Relief Started

In 1945, World War II left an estimated one-fifth of the world’s Lutherans homeless. Here in the United States, Lutheran churches in at least 20 states mobilized to help in Europe through a new agency called Lutheran World Relief.  The recipients of LWR’s aid have changed — as has much of our operations — but in thousands of congregations, in millions of offerings and in uncounted prayers, US Lutherans have supported LWR’s work ever since.  Continue reading this wonderful story by clicking HERE!

Mission Trips
Our Mission Trips which had been planned for this summer have all been cancelled, but we are working on our mission for next year.  Interested in helping, please contact us!

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, our YogaDevotion sessions have been cancelled until it is OK for us to meet again.

Seated in the Presence
Getting up and down off the floor can be difficult for many reasons.  This Yogadevotion class incorporates poses that increase range of motion, improve balance and bring attention to the breath, all using a chair as yoga props.

Learn more about Yogadevotion on their website.
Contact the church office (office@cslcvh.org) for more information regarding classes and fee payment.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
You are invited to create a prayer shawl those in need of comfort, in order to help them experience God’s peace and powerful love.  This ministry involves the creating of prayer shawls – knit, crochet, croknit, or the process of your choice. Click here for more information and patterns

Goals

1.  Build a discipleship culture in our congregation which integrates the Five Practices throughout the church’s ministry and members’ daily lives.

a. Evaluate our current mission and service activities and programs to consider their purpose and relationship to the Five Practices.

b. Support Pastor Chris Steubing in starting a pilot huddle of leaders who will practice and learn the language and lifestyle of discipleship.

c. Explore local and global mission partnerships, trips, and events that provide opportunities for our church to experience risk-taking mission & service.

2.  Develop a leadership pipeline that equips members to be sent out as ministers within church and everyday life.

a. Encourage current leaders to invite new leaders to join them as partners and/or apprentices.

b. Practice collaborative team ministry by consolidating and organizing our current committees and programs into ministry teams focused on the Five Practices.

c. Provide support and resources for ministry teams and leaders for use in inviting and training people to serve in their area of passion and giftedness.
