2018 Hurricane Response

Lutheran Disaster Response
The 2018 hurricane season continues to produce strong storms with devastating impacts for many people in their paths.   Your gifts designated for “Hurricane response” will be used entirely (100 percent) for direct response until it is complete. Together, we can help provide immediate and long-lasting support for those whose lives have been impacted by hurricanes.

What you can do:
Pray:  Please pray for the people who have been affected and are in the path of Hurricane Lane. May God’s healing presence give them peace and hope in their time of need.
Give:  Give through our congregation or send check to Lutheran Disaster Response (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, ELCA Gift Processing Center, PO Box 1809, Merrifield, VA 22116-8009.  Write “Hurricane Response” on memo line. Gifts may also be made online by clicking here:  “Hurricane Response”  Your gift will be used to assist those affected by these hurricanes until the response is complete.

Christmas Giving Tree

Giving Tree 2018

Giving Tree 2017

Thank you for your love and kindness to our
community.  Members of Christ the Servant
and the community of Vadnais Heights came
together to purchase, wrap, deliver, gifts of toys,
winter clothing, grocery gift cards, and other
needed items to families in our community.

Every Tuesday, from 9 AM to 6 PM or until gone, we sponsor a free bread distribution for the community. The church and other community members help by picking up the bread, setting the bread out on tables, providing bags and gloves and friendly smiling faces!

Donations of nonperishable food, personal care items and cash are delivered to our local food shelf for distribution through the Vadnais Heights Food Shelf operated by the Vadnais Heights Lions. The Vadnais Heights Food Shelf serves the community of Vadnais Heights.

Through ELCA Disaster Response, the ELCA is partnering with local responders in affected areas. ELCA congregations and members are already at work.
Donate through CSLC or online at www.elca.org/disaster or send check directly to: ELCA Disaster Response, 39330 Treasury Center, Chicago, IL 60694-9300.

Lutheran World Relief

How Lutheran World Relief Started

In 1945, World War II left an estimated one-fifth of the world’s Lutherans homeless. Here in the United States, Lutheran churches in at least 20 states mobilized to help in Europe through a new agency called Lutheran World Relief.  The recipients of LWR’s aid have changed — as has much of our operations — but in thousands of congregations, in millions of offerings and in uncounted prayers, US Lutherans have supported LWR’s work ever since.

Affirming God’s love for all people, we work with Lutherans and partners around the world to end poverty, injustice and human suffering.

Empowered by God’s unconditional love in Jesus Christ, we envision a world in which each person, every community and all generations live in justice, dignity and peace.
